While the Radias, Kalmadis, Rajas and Assanges were hogging the limelight this year for all the wrong reasons, these celebrities were busy creating ripples in their own ways.

Being a celebrity in 2010 was certainly one tough job. Imagine the politicians and never-heard-of lobbyists taking away from you what was rightfully yours -- the media attention!

Then again, imagine being in the news for beating up your wife, smoking up, getting caught with your pants down and putting your foot in the mouth!

Meet the famous faces who managed to do something or other that kept them in the news...for all the wrong reasons.

Lady Gaga

If her outlandish clothes weren't enough to keep her in the limelight, pop star Lady Gaga went a step ahead and posed in a bikini made of raw meat.

The photograph appeared on the cover of Men's Vogue, Japan and got animal rights activists up in arms.

Chetan Bhagat

The guy simply won't let go.

Author Chetan Bhagat, who raised a stink about credits for 3 Idiots put his foot in his mouth while introducing lyricist-poet Gulzar at an event.

Bhagat reportedly said that he liked the song Kajra Re (from Bunty Aur Babli) and said it was 'a very good piece of poetry.'

It seems the Oscar-winning lyricist did not like the sound of Bhagat's words and with a straight face asked him the meaning of a few lines from the song.

Chetan Bhagat, of course, was stumped, but Gulzar wasn't finished.

After chiding him, he simply asked the author to refrain from passing 'expert comments' on his poetry.

For once, the motormouth had to shut up.

Elizabeth Hurley

Among the many stars who took to Twitter to justify their stands was Elizabeth Hurley.

The actress, model and bikini designer was caught with her pants down when The News of the World revealed that she had an affair with cricket legend Shane Warne while married to Indian millionaire Arun Nayar.

News of the World claimed Liz spent two nights with Warnie in his hotel suite in London and the two were captured on video 'in a series of sizzling public clinches'.

For her part, Hurley tweeted: 'Not a great day. For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this.'

Soon after, it was reported that she had also broken things off with the sultan of spin after she learnt that he had sexted a married Australian woman.

Tiger Woods

Speaking of infidelity, Tiger Woods had a year he'd be happiest putting behind him.

The legendary golfer's marriage crumbled as his numerous sexual liaisons came tumbling out of the closet.

According to reports, Woods' wife Elin first learnt about his extramarital affair with mistress Rachel Uchitel when she sent her text messages pretending to be him.

From there, the controversy snowballed into an international media storm, with several women stepping forward to claim they had bedded the sportsman.

As a result, Tiger lost out on a whole lot of lucrative endorsements, even as his performance on the field spiralled downward.

Wayne Rooney

Another sportsman with a wandering -- er -- eye, is soccer star Wayne Rooney, who could well have been taken to the cleaners thanks to his wayward ways.

Rooney reportedly cheated on pregnant wife Coleen with a prostitute and the story broke earlier this year. Fortunately for him, his understanding wife accepted his apologies and forgave his transgression.

Now, if only the Manchester United forward could focus on giving his career a boost after un-Rooneyish performances of late.

Paris Hilton

While Rooney struggled on the field at the World Cup in South Africa, Paris Hilton managed to get into drug trouble -- and more trouble.

The hotel heiress was charged with smoking marijuana in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, during The Netherlands-Brazil game.

She was let off as it turned out that the substance was in possession of Hilton's friend Playmate Jennifer Rovero, who was apparently covering the World Cup as a freelance photographer.

But Paris can never do with just one controversy in 12 months -- she was also sued in August by a hair extension company that claimed they signed her on for millions of dollars to endorse their product, but that she had extensions from competitors put into her hair.

Last week it was reported that a video of Paris taking a bath has topped a list of the most-watched topless videos of celebrities for the second consecutive year. Wonder how 2011 will pan out for her!

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell is possibly used to being in the news for flinging phones and abusing her staff.

This year the British supermodel found herself in a spot as she was dragged into a war crimes trial against former Liberian president Charles Taylor.

It was alleged that Campbell received 'blood diamonds' while she was in South Africa in 1997 for a charity function to honour Nelson Mandela.

Blood diamonds are diamonds mined in a war zone and used to fund insurgencies and illegal war activities.

After initially refusing to appear at the trial, the dusky stunner had to testify. She confessed that she was indeed given 'dirty-looking' stones, but didn't know they were diamonds till she was told so.

Campbell also said that appearing at the trial that has been on for over three years had caused her 'big inconvenience' and that she wished to 'get this over with and get on with my life'.

Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik

It was perhaps the marriage of the year -- India's top lady tennis player ties the knot with Pakistani cricketer.

The wedding that took place in Hyderabad may not have seen a lot of high-profile guests, but the media from across the two countries came along to get their share of sound bytes.

What made the shaadi all-so-messy was Shoaib Mailk's alleged 'first' marriage to a certain Ayesha Siddiqui -- daughter of a wealthy Hyderabadi family.

Initially, Shoaib vehemently denied that such a wedding had ever taken place, but he ended up signing divorce papers all the same.

Through all of this, Sania Mirza stood by her man like a rock, but also had to face criticism from angry sports fans and questions about whether she given ex-fiance Sohrab Mirza a raw deal, given that she got married so soon after breaking off her engagement to Sohrab.

Zulqarnain Haider

Zulqarnain Haider will probably go down cricketing history as the youngest player to have announced retirement.

The 24-year-old Pakistani wicket-keeper fled to London midway through a series against South Africa in the UAE, after receiving death threats for refusing to fix matches.

Soon enough, he even announced his retirement from international cricket. Of course team captain Shahid Afridi dismissed Haider's move as childish, saying he would gain nothing.

After all, what's the harm in losing a limb or two for your country? Right, Shahid?

Yana Gupta

The former Kingfisher model made heads turn as she went commando at an event in Mumbai.

Yana Gupta, who has been tottering on the edges of celebrity for quite some time now, got more attention than she bargained for when a tabloid published pictures of her in a little black dress and absolutely nothing underneath.

Ironically, the adults-only sight was captured at a charity event on the occasion of International Children's Day!

Transsexual model Lea T

Givenchy made its presence felt in the fashion industry this year not so much for its latest line but rather for getting a transsexual model to be its new face.

Till not very long ago, the 28-year-old model, Lea T was just a backroom assistant at the French fashion house till Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci cast her in the fall/winter ad campaign for the brand.

Since then Lea T has gone on to model for the Italian Vanity Fair and has also posed naked for French Vogue.

The Brazilian was born Leandro Cerezo and has confessed that her transition from being a man to a woman has not gone down too well with her Catholic family.

Since her first appearance in the Givenchy campaign, Lea T's agency has received over 400 interview requests. She is also set to be featured on Oprah.

Lea T is under hormone replacement therapy before she undergoes a sex change operation has confessed that her father, former soccer star Toninho Cerezo, was very unhappy about her transformation.
