Gaurang Shah, Shravan Kumar and Vivek Kumar showcased the glory of Indian textiles on the runway Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.

Designers Gaurang ShahShravan Kumar and Vivek Kumar showcased their distinct designerwear as part of he Indian Textile Day at the Lakme Fashion Week.

Kirron Kher, Shriya Saran and adman Prahlad Kakkar dazzled the catwalk as celebrity showstoppers.

Shriya Saran stopped the show for Shravan Kumar in a printed lehenga, pink bustier and dupatta.

The show opened with a Gujarati song to the beat of a live band, models took to the ramp from the head of the ramp rather than the wings.

The double ikat Patolu sari takes few years to weave and sometimes costs a small fortune. Shah combined Patolu with Parsi Gara embroidery, Kanjeevaram borders, gotas and fabric textures to his designs.

Gaurang Shah also introduced traditional menswear outfits using the same fabric that featured sherwani, dhoti, kurta and a turban made out of five-and-a-half metres of fabric.

Closing the show was the ever gorgeous and gracious Kirron Kher, a perfect showstopper wearing a stunning Patola sari and dupatta.

Vivek Kumar’s collection used the textiles of Assam featuring Moonga/raw/Matka silks, as well as linen, cotton and georgette lending it a luxurious yet formal look.
