Narendra Kumar: People are starved of watching naked women
Fashion designer Narendra Kumar answers rapid fire questions from Sonil Dedhia on fashion mistakes, being one's own boss, his sense of style and the reason why people like to make an issue of wardrobe malfunctions during fashion shows.
Kumar has designed clothes for Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Pooja Bedi and John Abraham.
Can you share summer fashion trends and tips?
Talking about women I think white is the colour of the season. A lot of pants with short tops would be really in fashion. It is also necessary to wear something airy and comfortable. I also see a lot of structured dresses being worn today. When it comes to men the colour trousers are the flavour of the season. I also see really nice colour jackets which we showcased in our shows.
What are some of the fashion mistakes that women make?
Women don't pay a lot of attention to the accessories and shoes. It is as essential as the costume that you are wearing.
Give us three shortcuts to improve one's appearance...
It is necessary to read a lot. Second thing is to understand what colours look (good) on your body. The third thing would be think before choosing you clothes.

How many pair of denims do you own?

'Wardrobe malfunction is completely normal'
What is your personal sense of style?
It is very tailored and structured and I like to experiment with a lot of colours.
Do you throw tantrums when things go wrong for you?
It's not about throwing tantrums. I like to see things heading into the right direction.
How would you react if any of your models had a wardrobe malfunction?
It's completely normal. There is nothing to embarrass about it. It's just that people like to make an issue about it as I feel they are starved of watching naked women.
Young designers you need to watch out for...
The last time I saw any young designers they have all grown old. I have not seen a good collection from the new talent that has been spectacular and caught my eye.
