In every office, there will be at least one person who likes to keep track of all the gossip.

If you refuse to be friends with this person, you are probably losing out on many exciting hot news and updates that you might not receive via office e-mail.

You can occasionally have a word with the gossip person to know things like who's being promoted or who's put in their papers.

You never know, these trivial updates might even help you improvise your strategies at work and shape your career.

From all the updates on latest job openings to what's happening inside the office -- talks of mergers, acquisitions -- a manager knows all.

And if you are friends to him, then that news would come to you also.

The manager is even supposed to ensure that his team does all the good work and they get all the necessary resources to get it done, so it's not at all a bad idea to have a manager as your BFF.

Last but not the least, another must-have office friend is the assistant to your boss.

Your boss's assistant is an organised person who has a plan about your boss's schedule.
