Youth Incorporated, one of India's leading youth magazines has released its annual list of the 100 best business schools in the world.

This year's rankings reveal that India's premier management institute IIM-A has failed to make it to Youth Incorporated's Top 10 list of best business schools in the world this year. Compared with 10th position in 2012 rankings, IIM-A has slipped to 20th position in 2013.

IIM Calcutta has slipped to 21st rank this year as against 17th rank in 2012.

Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, has come down to 23rd from its 16th position last year.

The only notable exception is S P Jain Institute of Management. SPJIM has managed to climb up to 61st place compared with 77th place in 2012.

The Indian economy may have been topsy-turvy over the last few months but education remains one of the most buzzing sectors. It shouldn't be surprising. Many of us are returning to school after the initial few years of service to better our career prospects, seeking out admissions in universities across India and around the world.

The Master of Business Administration (or the MBA) programme especially has been extremely popular among young Indians as it becomes an important stepping stone in their careers.

But which b-school does one go to? Which ones are the best in the world?

To help you select, Youth Incorporated in association with Education Times and Rediff.com has released its Global Business School Rankings 2013.

The annual ranking lists and rates the Top 100 business schools in the world to ease the decision making process of Indian students.

How the rankings were put together

To organise the rankings, months of research and surveys were conducted by contacting over 1,200 institutes.

The responses from the institutes, the current students in the institute and their alumni were tabulated.

Over 12,000 recruiters were also contacted for their inputs when conducting the surveys.

The results of the months of arduous work paid off in the form of Top 100 business school ranking that students could consider to pursue a full-time MBA programme.

Apart from scoring the institutes, a comparison with their standing from the previous year's ranking was also included.

The results of the ranking indicate that the Top Three universities, i.e. Harvard University, Stanford University and University of Pennsylvania, have managed to retain their positions from the previous year.

There is also an indication that the United States of America still occupies the top spot when it comes to higher education with seven of the Top 10 being coveted universities from the USA.

The best of the best, Harvard University, managed to secure a perfect 100 just like the ranking of the previous year.

However, the situation when it comes to rating Indian institutes in the universal scenario is grave.

While IIM Ahmedabad had managed to break into the Top 10 in the previous year's ranking, they have dropped down to the 20th spot this year.

The other Indian representatives have also lost their positions with Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, and IIM Calcutta dropping out of the Top 20.

However, SP Jain Institute of Management has been going from strength to strength by moving up to the 61st rank in this year's ranking compared with 77th rank in 2012.
