Rajesh Karkera
Model watch: Mithun Rodwittiya

This model got into the profession by chance. He was introduced to a designer by some common friends, and the rest, as they say, is history. Modelling for four years now, this charming man loves his job. He also happens to be a new media designer, graduated from NID.

On favorite clothes and designers:
I love Arjun Khanna and Rajesh Pratap Singh's clothes. My favorite outfit is a pair of jeans and a tight V-neck T-shirt, something like what I'm wearing right now. My favorite T-shirt is one with a Punjabi slogan plastered across it and it cost me around 300-500 rupees. I'm not brand conscious at all...well, ok, i have my moods. (laughs)

On four Fashion Weeks:
I love it. It means lots of work for models. I can't complain about anything.

On the clothes he wears for designers:
I've been seeing some interesting clothes on the ramp this week. As a model, I'm simply a vehicle to convey the designer's message to the audience and the buyers. I can switch off when I'm working, so so I dont mind if the clothes are ones I can't relate to. The designers would know what works with my look and I don't question that. I've never been uncomfortable with what I've been asked to wear. Though if that did happen, I would talk to the designer about it- the relationship between designers and models is good; we can talk to each other.

On men's fashion:
Men's fashion is still evolving and coming of age in India. People are beginning to explore this genre. In fact, I always joke that in my lext life I would like to be born a woman because you guys have so much more variety and choices than we do. But these days things are changiing, lots of men are option for designer-wear. Bollywood has a large role to play in this too- they have made men's fashion fashionable. It's a very exciting time and I would like to play my part in men's fashion.

On modelling:
Starting models are paid less; that's natural. But I've never compromised on my values and principles to get work.

On Diwali plans:
My mom is an artist and her show is on the 31st of October- also the day of her birthday. So that's far more exciting for me than Diwali. But usually Diwali is spent at home. I get together with some close friends and family, and we celebrate together.
