Sundaram RaviSundaram Ravi retained his place among the 'Elite’, while C Shamshuddin was elevated to 'Emerging’, in the ICC’s panel of umpires for the coming season.

According to bcci.tv, the 50 year old Ravi was retained because of his his impressive track record.

Since making his debut as an official in a T20 International between India and England in October 2011, Ravi has officiated in 11 Tests, 26 ODIs and 18 T20Is.

Late last year he officiated in the first day-night Test between Australia and New Zealand, at Adelaide Oval, along with England's Richard Illingworth.

The 46-year-old Shamshuddin was elevated to the ICC's ODI Emerging panel of umpires, having already officiated in seven ODIs and 10 T20Is.

He was selected to officiate in ICC events, including the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

Shamshuddin’s elevation and retention of Ravi's in the Elite panel is a testament to the Board of Control for Cricket in India efforts towards raising the standard of umpiring in the country and creating a bigger pool of match officials.
