2006's best Telugu movies

December 28, 2006

Stalin

This was megastar Chiranjeevi's only release in 2006, and Stalin was in the news for days because it released with a whopping 400 prints. Director A R Murugadoss was inspired by a real-life incident -- a mammoth crowd at the celebrations of Chiranjeevi's Indra. Chiranjeevi is now doing films with a message and is becoming a man for society -- which also happened to be the tagline of Stalin.

The film, because of the sheer number of prints, made money. Only a person like Chiranjeevi could guarantee that kind of opening. The movie, however, was not a smash hit.

The film also saw Khushboo making a comeback to Telugu cinema (as the sister of Chiranjeevi). Trisha played his love interest.
