Goa in Jr. National football final

Phillip Pereira's 'golden goal' enabled last year's runners-up Goa edged out Uttar Pradesh 1-0 and enter the final of the Junior National football championship, for the B C Roy Trophy, at the floodlit Corporation stadium in Thrissur, on Thursday night.

The first semi-final witnessed a keen tussle, but both sides were locked goalless at the end of the regulation time.

However, Pereira found the net in the eighth minute of extra-time give his side a place in the final.

The second semi-final between South Zone champions Karnataka and holders Punjab will be played on Friday.
