Latvian rower fails dope test

The Rediff Team

Lithuania's single sculler Andris Reinholds has tested positive for nandrolone, and as a result has been disqualified from the Olympics and will be asked to leave the Athletes' Village.

Reinholds finished second in the minor B final of the men's singles sculls on Saturday. His routine blood test showed four times the permitted limit of the steroid.

Officials of FISA, the world body that governs rowing, will meet after the Games to consider the imposition of a lifetime ban on the Latvian.
