Bush, the final flight

June 17, 2008
Security had been tightened in Rome ahead of President Bush's arrival in Italy.

Even though Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been a major supporter of the US-led invasion of Iraq, fellow Roman citizens think otherwise. More than 2,000 Italian troops are deployed as part of the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan. The 3000-man contingent to Iraq returned home recently.

Anti-war activists and demonstrators marched through the Italian capital. Commercial flights were banned over the city, buses and trams were re-routed and thousands of cops manned key intersections -- all to ensure a smooth journey for the world's most powerful man.
