M S Golwalkar: 100 years of a controversial leader

February 19, 2007
The Congress, which fiercely projects itself as a secular party, condemns, ridicules and rejects whatever the RSS stands for and whatever Golwalkar propagated. Golwalkar, however, had close contacts with Lal Bahadur Shastri, Dr Rajendra Prasad and Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

It is unthinkable Sonia Gandhi will accept the invitation to participate in the function in New Delhi.

RSS sources claim many Congressmen have openly participated in the celebration of Golwalkar's birth anniversary.

In Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and some northeast states, Congressmen have openly attended functions organised by the RSS.

The Bharatiya Janata Party -- of which the RSS is the parent body -- should note that away from the media glare the RSS has utilised the birth centenary year to test its relevance in the interiors of India, claims a member of the Sangh Parivar.
