Some myths about rhinos
Many people believe that since the rhino spends a long time in copulation,
consumption or possession of even a small bit of rhino horn will give them
lasting sexual powers.
People also believe rhino urine possesses magical powers. For instance, in Nepal, a few drops of urine are put in a vessel and hung over the main entrance of the house to protect the inmates from ghosts and diseases. Some believe asthma, skin diseases, epilepsy and stomach disorders can be cured by consuming rhino urine.
Villagers around Kaziranga believe a plaster made of rhino dung heals
swellings.
The yield of a paddy field is believed to increase if a rhino passes through it and drops some dung.
None of this has been scientifically proved.
