There are many open spaces in the bazaar. The sea wiped out everything. What you see are sticks in the ground and a small board atop it.

On each board is written the name of the owner of the shop or house that existed at the spot before the tsunami.

Nobody is rebuilding yet because the government has not permitted reconstruction. Many feel the administration may shift the shops to higher ground.
