An Ahmedabad [Images] court on Saturday sent four accused in the Swaminarayan temple sex scam case to two days' police custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate D V Vaid remanded Bhimji Bhagat, Nandlal Kala, Himmat Lehri of Surat [Images] and Karsan Patel of Saila after the Ahmedabad Crime Branch sought time for questioning the accused.

The court asked the police to produce the four on February 22.

Four other accused, including Junagadh Swaminaryan temple priest Swami Bhaktiswarup, who were sent to remand earlier this week, will also be produced in the court on February 22.

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch had on February 15 seized a CD containing images of sadhus of Vadtal sect indulging in wild sexual acts.

The Crime Branch arrested Bhaktiswarup, who features in the CD, and the three others while acting on complaints that the CD was being circulated in Junagadh, Ahmedabad and Anand districts.

According to the police, the scam was a result of rivalry between two factions of the Vadtal sect. The groups were trying to defame each other in order to establish control over the temple at Vadtal in Nadiad district of Gujarat.
