One more Ahmedabad builder
detained under PASA

Police has detained one more builder from Ahmedabad under the provisions of the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act on charges of poor construction of buildings that collapsed during the January 26 earthquake in Gujarat.

Police said the builder Nirav Shah was a financier as well as partner in constructions in Maninagar area of the city.

The orders to detain the builder were issued on Tuesday by the city police commissioner, police said adding Shah's partner, also a builder, was absconding.

Another builder Satish Shah of Shikhar Apartments was also held under PASA on Monday.

With this arrest, the number of builders arrested so far under different sections of law for the poor construction of buildings has risen to 62.
