Subject: Changing the face of rediff.com

I am so pleased with rediff.com that it has become my main source of Indian news. You could consider putting pictures and text in different urls to make it faster to read and have bigger pictures as well. Otherwise I like it as it is.

Subject: Nuclear Tests and Agni-2

Reminds me of a stanza written by our Rashtra kavi Dinkar, who perhaps was in 'search for a superman' for India. In one of his poems, there is a section titled 'Maha Manav Ki Khoj' (search for a super hero), where he writes:

"Anweshi Main Us Prachand Manav Ka, Chalata jo Baahon Par Swarg Uthaye, Jiski Saanson Par Naachta Prabhanjan, Ingit Par Itihas badal jaate hain."

Translation: "I am looking for that superman who walks carrying the weight of all heavens on his hands, on the tune of whose breath the air swings and at the single suggestion of whose, history changes its course."

Vajpayee has put his imprint on the national consciousness of India forever. It is not easy to realise the strength needed to accomplish such tasks amidst international coercion. He is credited with unshackling India of its self-imposed restraint.

Subject: Sad news...

It is indeed very sad to hear that Chinna Moulana is no more. He was a great nadaswaram player. Hope his daughter and son will start giving public concerts ( I am not sure whether they have given or not) and continue their father's legacy.

Subject: The Flip-Flop Commissar

These articles are published and are apparently convincing. I wonder if it ever gets into the print media. How many people have access to Internet in India? Virtually none. The population is just limited to an affordable few.Would it not make sense to convey these messages through the popular print media as well. This is just a suggestion of mine. Probably you have better ideas.

Subject: On tv.comp

I think this TV+Computer programme is an excellent idea. It can click only if marketing is done properly. Following options will create dream TV.COMP DVD + CD ROM Internet ready. As the screen resolution will not be as great as normal computer screens, it would be nice if the PC attached to it can improve the resolution. Should have faster graphics card (8MB etc) And last but not the least, there should be a camera attached to it with video conferencing Software. I would like to thank Rediff on covering such stories.

Subject: Telephone calls

This step to increase telephone charges proves that the government treats the middle class as bonded labour. The middle class cannot escape taxes, inflation, price hikes or retrenchments in their respective organisations. Every passing day is difficult. It is high time the government starts looking at the purchasing power of the people before implementing such hikes.

That was an interesting interview. Many of the questions asked were not the typical ones! I am always on the lookout for Ashaji's interviews...

Subject: Ashok Banker on wannabe authors

I have been reading you for quite some years now and really envy the featherlight touches of black humour that peppers your writing. I wish I had it in me to do the same. But I am just too, too, serious and lack the kind of humour you do, at least in my writing. Your column was just wonderful, brilliant, to say the least because it offers a volume of information on writers and wannabe-Bookers one of which I also happen to be. How do you do it? I read your first novel too. In fact, I actually bought it because I do not subscribe to a circulating library since I have shifted to Cal four years ago. Your column has truly given me a gigantic inferiority complex. I wish you'd run a similar piece of reviewers of books. Got that?

"What's Leander doing in this lot?" by Harsha Bhogle is positive, inspirational and has that special 'Indian touch!' Fellow Indians, do we bleed enough? Keep up the good work!

Subject: The Manoj Bajpai interview

Manoj Bajpai is an embodiment of exceptional strength of character and personality. He has an unmatched acting prowess, which he has displayed copiously in Satya. Let us hope the famed directors take cognisance of his talents and exploit his skills in the most rightful manner for promotion of better and qualitative cinema and theatres.

Subject: I've only time to be frustrated with myself

Every time I and many of my friends read your interviews, we think: this interview is terrific. Why can't it be longer? Your choice of personalities for interview is varied and great. But please increase the space allocated for them and have longer interviews because these are terrific guys (and gals), so make full use of their time when you get them.
