'Nowadays people are listening to radio and deciding whether they like the music or not'

You set a record by having a digi-launch of the film's music at Big FM Studio. Why did this preference for radio?

It was my producer Ram Mohan's idea. Nowadays people are listening to radio and deciding whether they like the music or not, and then buying the cassette or CD. So we decided to launch it over the radio before releasing the CD later.

Could you talk about the technical crew of the film?

My producer and friend Ram Mohan is an IIM Ahmedabad graduate who has worked in senior management functions with UTV, Mumbai and Suresh Productions, Hyderabad for over a decade.

He would read scripts at Suresh Productions before they went to Suresh Babu. About six years ago I pitched this idea and some years later, he said, 'let's make it.'

Ashta Chamma is produced by his production house Art Beat Capital P Limited -- their first film. He came on the sets just twice. It was a nice collaborative producer-director relationship.

P G Vinda is my cameraman. He has worked with me in my previous films and I share a comfort level with him. He knows what I want and I have tremendous confidence in him.

Ravinder is the art director. Some of his projects include Chhatrapati and Raakhee and has worked with other directors like Gangaraju and Chandrasekhar Yeleti.

Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor and he has done a good job. I had the privilege of Seetarama Sastry writing the lyrics and he has given good Telugu songs.

Arvind Jashua has done the costumes.
