Making Psycho a sensation!

Psycho is Raghu Dixit's first Kannada film as a music director, and what a debut it is!

To put it mildly, the album is a sensation in the Kannada film music industry. So also the music director. Kannada actor Sudeep has described him as a musician of phenomenal talent.

Psycho is a film made by, and with newcomers. Though the film's producer Gurunath, a software engineer by profession has not even announced the star cast of the film so far, the film has aroused a lot of curiosity because of the huge success of the album.

As Psycho awaits release, R G Vijayasarathy caught up with Raghu Dixit for more. Excerpts:

Tell us about yourself

I am a gold medalist in Microbiology from Mysore University. Since childhood I was more interested in music. I was also a dancer. I had formed my own musical band Antaragni when I was in Mysore. Antaragni soon started making news and became a platform for many musicians to exhibit their talent.

After working briefly in Germany, I returned to Bangalore to continue with my musical pursuits. I started doing many live performances in and around the country.

Vishal and Shekhar [composers] happened to hear my songs in a studio and decided to launch me from their label. That is how Hey Bhagavan happened. The album made me popular after actor Sanjay Dutt released it.

I am grateful to them for encouraging new talent. They are now in the process of introducing some more musical talents. Shekhar was one of the guests at the musical launch of Psycho.

I am happy to tell you that Amitabh Bachchan heard the songs and appreciated my work.
