How was the whole project conceptualised?
What interested me is that this film is not a commercial one. Once the script was done, the team came on board -- Kiran Reddy (cinematographer), Bhupesh (art director), Dadi Padamjee (the best in the puppetry field -- and the best thing to have happened to the film) Shriya and Naresh (mainstream actors).
Mr Balasubrahmanyam and Mr Chiranjeevi lent their voices for the film, while Peter Heinz orchestrated an action sequence (a fire episode). Everything fell in place and it was good work.
The film was premiered at the International Children Film Festival at Hyderabad in November 2005. But it has never been released. Why? Has it been shown at the various international film festivals?
This film is not in a feature film category but still won the National Award. We are trying to get a tax exemption and may release the Telugu version (sans English sub-titles) shortly. It has been shown at festivals and even won the Audience Choice Award at the film festival in Los Angeles.
