'Sai Kumar was natural'

How did you team up with Prakash who directed the film?

We are the third generation in the film field. My grandfather Mr Rama Naidu and his grandfather Mr Prakash Rao made films together. His father Mr Raghavendra Rao and my father Mr Suresh Babu make films too.

I have known Prakash since childhood and we keep bouncing ideas to each other. I liked this story written by J K Bharavi when Prakash narrated it to me.

How was Sai Kumar selected? How easy or difficult was it training him?

There were hundreds of kids coming in every day for the auditions. It was quite a task selecting one. In fact we had zeroed in on one kid.

Sai Kumar came and when Prakash saw him perform, he said he was the right kid. He was natural and had the innocence required for the role. He had no formal training in acting but right from day one, he created magic on the sets. He just performed as he was required to.
