As the world gets its wands ready for the seventh and final installment of a children's book series that has conjured up a parallel world for millions and magically transfigured a waitress into one of the richest people in Britain, we thought it was the right time to do a quick recap of the Harry Potter story so far.
So, without further adieu -- punctuated only by a brief doffing of the wizard's hat to Jo, as J K Rowling is to most Pottermaniacs -- here we go.

Thus begins Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The Dursleys' 'perfect' world is shattered when Harry Potter Mrs Dursley's toddler nephew, is left in front of their house by a group of most extraordinary people.
You see, Harry Potter is a wizard. And no ordinary wizard at that. He is the Boy Who Lived, the only one who the evil wizard Lord Voldemort could not kill.
After he killed Harry's parents, Voldemort tried to kill Harry, but instead lost his own powers completely. All Harry, about a year old, was left with was a lightning shaped scar on his forehead.
