Periyar
This is National Award winning IAS officer-turned-filmmakerGana Rajasekharan's tribute to EV Ramaswamy Naicker -- one of the legends in Tamil Nadu -- because he felt there was a large gap between what Periyar was and how he is known and remembered.
"That gap is a very interesting one for a filmmaker," he told rediff in an interview.
Though not made in the commercial format, with tax cuts and other incentives given by the DMK government, Periyar recovered money. Like his earlier film Bharati on the legendary poet Subramnya Bharati, Periyar is also a landmark film.
