Director Ameer had earlier bowled everyone over with his powerful film Ram and made Jeeva an actor to reckon with. Jeeva also won international awards for his performance in it.

Next, Ameer moved to a rural subject called Paruthiveeran. The film was a success in the urban centres and multiplexes also, because of its powerful story, excellent performances and a sincere director.
