'I want Ravan to be recognised'

While the nation grows into the latest massive mythological serial, lets start by looking at the actor playing the title character.

Narain Jha plays Ravan, and here's an insight into the man behind the ten heads.

Born in Bihar, Jha did his Masters in Ancient Indian History from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. After completing the degree, he joined the Shriram Centre for Performing Arts & Culture for a one-year acting course. He came to Mumbai in 1993.

Music was a big passion for Jha, who knew how to play instruments like the mouth organ, flute, banjo and harmonium. He put this to good use, scoring the music for plays he was associated with during his graduation.

The actor comes from a village with a drama club established in 1946, and feels his inclination towards performing arts was obvious. He came to Mumbai, got a portfolio made and, almost immediately, started doing ads. Jha smiles as he recalls that he never had to struggle, getting his first ad within a month of getting this photos shot. Till date, he has done over 75 ads.
