Nayanthara, who is all of 20, shot to fame when she was chosen to play Rajnikanth's heroine in Chandramukhi. Just three films old (all in Malayalam), she has bagged what several senior actresses hope to achieve all their life!

Her first Tamil release, Ayya, opposite Sarath Kumar, is one of the Pongal releases.

Nayanthara discusses the film with Contributing Special Correspondent Shobha Warrier.

You were shooting for Ayya, when selected to play Rajnikanth's heroine in Chandramukhi. This is the ultimate for any heroine in South India. How did you take the news?

I was shooting for my first Tamil film. So the offer was quite shocking.
