When some of India's corporate majors entered Bollywood three years ago, showbizwallahs expected a change for the better, especially where film finance was concerned.

One saw the Tatas, Birlas, the Pantaloon group, Vijaypat Singhania and Vijay Mallya produce Hindi films.

Unfortunately, not one of them succeeded. Most have now withdrawn from the film business; the rest have slowed down cine operations.
