Rani Mukherji

Besides looking pretty and dancing well, Rani Mukherji can act.

Right from her Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat days, she displayed her acting prowess.

Though her spontaneity and screen presence was never in question, her dialogue delivery was labeled jarring and distracting.

Nonetheless, with every passing film there has been a marked improvement in her performances.

Here’s presenting Rani Mukherji’s career best:

Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat
Playing a rape victim who goes on to marry her rapist and eventually reforms him in her first film itself posed a huge challenge for the actress.

Rani took on it sportingly and came up with a spirited performance in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat.

The film starring her and Amjad Khan’s son Shadaab Khan was a failure.

Ghulam
In complete contrast to her righteous Mala in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat came the rebellious poor little rich daddy’s girl Alisha in Vikram Bhatt’s Ghulam.

Though her voice was dubbed, Rani’s spunky performance, sizzling chemistry with Aamir Khan and Aati kya Khandala sensation, set the ball rolling in her court.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Only two films old, Rani Mukherji was already playing mother to a eight-year-old.

Be it as the sexy college girl or a compassionate mother, Rani hit bullseye with Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Standing in the face of talented actors like Shah Rukh Khan and cousin Kajol, Rani excelled in her dying scene and the ragging sequence in college campus.

Hey!Ram
Playing a traditional Bengali wife in the period social drama, Hey! Ram, Rani was in terrific form as the Bangla spewing, vivacious wife of Kamal Haasan.

Though it was a brief role, she was noticed. And so was her hot kissing scene with the Southern superstar.

Bichchoo
IIn the remake of Luc Besson’s Leon-The Professional, Rani Mukherji played the role that was originally essayed by Natalie Portman.

As a filthy mouthed, bubble gum chewing, nose ringed, wild thing, Rani’s character was a far cry from her good girl roles.

Sadly for her, the film bombed.
