Jalandhar
Jalandhar is India's 7th most prosperous city in terms of average annual household income. Although, absolute figures for the city were not available, they are less than Rs 328,000 and more than Rs 298,000 per year.
The 20 cities identified by the study fuelled just under $100 billion of consumption expenditure in 2007-8, with food spending accounting for just over a third of total spending. However, there is significant diversity in spending patterns across cities.
