It's been five days since actor Kajal Aggarwal and businessman Gautam Kitchlu became Mrs and Mr.

While we have been bowled over by Kajal's wedding lehenga, it's hard to ignore the romantic story that's woven into her Gaur Pooja outfit.

Custom-created by Designer Anita Dongre, the pretty lehenga in lime green contains all kinds of special symbolism.

The lehenga featured resham work in pink and lavender threads and also included motifs of Kajal's favourite flowers.

Kajal rounded off the look with jewellery from the designer's label, Anita Dongre Pink City.

According to Dongre, the look has been inspired by the couple's favourite holiday destination, Villa D'este, a luxury hotel on Lake Como in Italy.

In an Instagram post, Kajal revealed the significance behind the look.

'My dear @anitadongre thank you for this exquisite lehenga conceptualised and custom-made keeping in mind the architecture, serenity and beauty of @villadestelakecomo.'

'Truly appreciate all that you've put into it and your personal investment of time and energy. Grateful for having you as a friend.'

The couple also honoured Gautam's Kashmiri roots with small touches added to the wedding venue, the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai.

Kajal's sister Nisha, shared a detailed post about it on Instagram.

She wrote: 'In a casual conversation about the wedding design, '@stylebyami (stylist Ami Patel) referred @ambitrix (Ambika Gupta) from @thea3project (The A-Cube Project) to us.'

'When I saw Ambika's work, I instantly called her and we hit a chord. There has been no looking back ever since.'

'In a minuscule timeline of a month, Ambika and her team conceptualised beautiful themes for our three events.'

'Sitting with @kajalaggarwalofficial and @kitchlug, ;she quizzed them based on her questionnaire.'

'Kashmir came out as a theme that appealed to her and instantly it also hit a home run with all of us. She then suggested it be called Shikara -- Voyage Of Love.'

'The wedding ceremony paid tribute to Gautam Jiju's heritage. The ceremony mirrored the picturesque mountains of the valley flanked by the majestic Dal Lake.'

'At a spiritual level, the pyramid is a symbol for the integration of self and soul.

'The mandap also bore intricate details of a shikara with paneling reminiscent of Kashmir's houseboats's wooden jaalis and openings.

'The minute one laid eyes on the reflective aisle, you were transported to the Dal Lake flanked by the fragrant floating flower markets on either side.'
