In the presence of the gods: Belur & Lepakshi

November 11, 2008

Most couples like to go the traditional route, where the omnipresent gods will bless them in their own pristine setting -- after all, they got married here too!

Where to do it

We're talking about the grand 12th century Hosysala mandapam (dome) at the Chennakesava temple in Belur, Karnataka, where the sculptures come alive. The unfinished Kalyana Mandapa in Lepakshi (Anandpur, Andhra Pradesh), built in the 15th century, provides a similar setting.

In such places, you can truly have a fairytale wedding that lasts for life. With nature as your witness, historic ruins as guests and the gods to give you company in their own domain, your union will be heavenly, to say the least.
