Riding the toy train to Ooty

The ride, broken down:

Mettuppallayam to Kallar:
Get used to the idea of sitting in a toy train and the beating down sun (if you are traveling in the summer) and set yourself up in anticipation for what will come.

Airfare for Rs 599 and less!

Kallar to Coonoor:
The most enthralling part of the journey. Take in the many viaducts, the stunning tunnel, the numerous waterfalls (you will see the same ones at various altitudes as the train winds its way up) and the magnificent drops into the valley.

Coonoor to Ooty:
The last leg of the climb. Let the chill encompass you as tea estates pruned to perfection jostle with fragrant eucalyptus trees for your attention. The total distance of 46 kilometers unwinds through 14 tunnels, 26 viaducts, and more than 200 turns.
