Expansion plans: "We are already expanding in most of the cities where we have a presence. These include Ahmedabad, Pune, Lucknow, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Cochin, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Some of them are Special Economic Zones (SEZs)," explains Padmanabhan.

"TCS is quite open to adopting SEZ, if they suit us -- we are in the process of understanding such possibilities. Our priority is to overcome all hindrances before entering into new spaces. By 2009, the Software Technology Parks of India will be dissolved. Hence, we have to look at SEZ. We are evaluating both models," he adds.

TCS has recently signed an MOU with the government of Andhra Pradesh to acquire 75 acres of land to develop a state-of-the-art facility in Hyderabad. Further expansion plans include moving to Tier II cities such as Bhubhaneshwar, Chandigarh, and Coimbatore. "The number of non-Indian employees will continue to grow as we expand our global operations. We will recruit in significant numbers in geographies like Latin America, China, and the US. We have always been expanding in the past, and will continue to do so," signs off Padmanabhan.
