A Kodachadri sunset

The rest of the day was spent waiting for the sun to make a grand exit.

The sunsets in Kodachadri are meant to be spectacular and in one spot it is possible to see the sun rise and the sunset.

But the clouds played villain.

We sat at a great vantage point with the clouds hitting us on our faces. That didn't stop us from clicking pics when the clouds relented. But the hero of the show, Sunny Boy (the sun) never emerged from behind the clouds and it was time for us to have our dinner by the fire camp.

To make up for the sun's misbehaviour the moon did a little item number for us. A crescent moon swung out of the sky and shone bravely among the twinkling stars. We retired at the feet of the Shankaracharya in our sleeping bags.

Early in the morning we got up to watch another performance by Sunny Boy. This time he did not disappoint us.

We started our descent after breakfast towards Arishinagudi Falls. We reached the malyali eating joint well ahead of schedule and from there we hired a local guide to lead us to the falls through the jungles. It is advisable to take a local guide as it is very easy to get lost in the jungle.
