A Kodachadri sunset

After breakfast our ascent towards Kodachadri began.

There was greenery all around even though it was still the dry season. Forests shed their leaves to conserve water in summer. But the Western Ghats are beautiful in this season too.

Our trek involved following a single track into the jungles; sometimes it was a 45 degree climb and sometimes 60 degrees. But the ghats were always there in the background to relieve our fatigue.

We walked up to a temple six to seven km away and then to Shankara Peeta, a place where it is said Hindu philosopher Shankaracharya meditated. The last part of our trek was mostly a walk through the clouds.

After a lunch we looked at the spots around Kodachadri -- Chitramoola Caves, Ganesha Guhe and a dip at one of the smaller waterfalls called Agastya Theertha.
