A Kodachadri sunset

It was the end of summer.

The first showers -- or what we call Mungaaru Malhe in Kannada -- were just around the corner. The Western Ghats beckoned.

I initially decided to go for a sojourn in the Western Ghats all alone, but Deepak joined later because the other trip he had planned got cancelled. In the last minute Poovi got in as well.

Airfare for Rs 100 and less!

We started off in the evening on May 18 from the KSRTC bus stand towards Kollur via Shimoga. We had a chat with driver and requested him to drop us off at a place called Karekatte, 20 km short of Kollur.

Karekatte came at 6.10 in the morning and from there we set out towards Kodachadri.

What a change the chirping birds and cool morning breeze of Karekatte was from the shrieking honks and pollution of our Bengaluru.
