Gujarati style
December 27, 2007
This style of draping is a popular choice for weddings and their related functions. The style is also usually reserved for sarees with heavily embroidered or embellished pallavs.
~ Here, the basic steps are the same right up until the saree is pleated and tucked in at the stomach. Loosely drape the pallav on your left shoulder, without pleating, until you are done with the lower half of the saree.
~ After tucking in the pleats, remove the pallav section from your left shoulder. Bring the pallav forward from behind you and drape it over your right shoulder upto you waist or about an arm's length lower. Pin the corner tip at your hip or at the back, below the pallav.
~ You can neatly pleat and pin the pallav on your shoulder or let it flow down your arm. The pallav should form and inverted fan-shape across your torso and hips.
~ The rest of the pallav can hang in loose folds behind you from your left hip to the back of your right shoulder.
