Ardha chandrasana (Crescent pose)

Stand a slight distance away from a firm chair or table. Inhale. Extending right hand, place it on the support. Exhale, lift left leg off the floor. Initially, just lift a foot off the floor. After gaining confidence, sense of balance and muscular stamina, you can attempt to lift it higher.

Simultaneously, tilt body towards support slightly. Look ahead, continuing normal breathing. Hold initially for just a few seconds (Increase duration in pose through regular practice). Release. Switch sides and repeat the steps for left leg.

Avoid: If suffering from vertigo.

Benefits: Preventive and therapeutic in neck pain. Trims fat on thighs and inner legs. Improves balance. Harmonises both brain hemispheres, affecting your social expression positively.
