We slowly and carefully made our way up the narrow path to finally reach Kudremukh peak, 6,200 feet above sea level!
A very satisfying end to the climb. We felt like we were treading into heaven.
At 1 pm we started our trek down without wasting much time. We reached the camp site where we stopped for a while and at 6 pm reached the first coffee estate bordering the Kudremukh National Park.
We hired a jeep there to take us back to where we had started the trek.
I asked the jeep driver if he had seen any wildlife during his night journeys in this stretch. He said he had never seen anything.
Just then, around the next bend, a huge sambar deer, with big antlers came onto the track, stood for a second and disappeared in to the coffee estates. It was a fitting and exciting end to our weekend adventure which we will probably narrate to everyone we meet. And wil continue to do so to our grandchildren.
