launches and innovations 2014

2014 is about to end and will talk about the recent and newest mobile innovations and launches in mobile world. South Korea’s mobile market passed the 110% penetration rate mark in 2013. The rapid growth of mobile production in Korea, to a large extent, is due to the fact that the global leader  and recipients of many top awards, the largest phone hardware manufacturers like Samsung and LG are themselves Korean companies. Moreover, the fierce competition among three Korean national operators, such as, Korea Telecom, SK Telecom and LGU+ creates an environment where innovation and rapid development can thrive and customers get the ultimate benefits.

Koreans are early adopters and tech-savvy consumers, particularly receptive to new technologies.  Recently, the ministry of South Korea  responsible for ICT has told the country’s smartphone manufacturers to load kill switch which allows users to remotely disable stolen or lost devices. The healthy development of the Korea IT sector can be explained by the concerted efforts on the part of the public and private sectors that contributed 3.37% of the national income in 2010 which have further grown in recent years.

However, a 2013 report suggested that South Korea's domestic mobile phone market is shrinking. The number of mobile phones sold in South Korea came to 2.51 million in 2013, down 23 % from 32.6 million units tallied in the previous year. The main reason for the decline in sales was the attempt by the telecom authority to curb the long-standing practice of providing illegal subsidies by the carriers in luring new customers.

However, in spite of contradictory reports, Samsung reported a record profit of £4.5 billion, up by 50% over 2012 and had shipped double the amount of smartphones compared to Apple and have sold 27.7% of all phones sold during the quarter Q1/2013.
