'A different triangle'

Rani Mukherji had a short but important role in director Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

In Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, too, Rani's presence won't clock much screen time, but it makes an impact, nonetheless.

In conversation with Latika Sidana:

Tell us about your role in K3G.

I have a guest appearance. In the film Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) wants his son (Shah Rukh Khan) to marry me. But Shah Rukh loves a girl (Kajol) from Chandni Chowk .

This is the same love triangle as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai...

Yes it is. But Karan has dealt with it differently in K3G.

Didn't you feel threatened by so many superstars? Didn't you feel you would get overshadowed?

On the contrary. I felt it was a feather in my cap to be put in the same league as these talented people.

The way in which the film is being promoted, do you feel too much hype can work adversely for a film?

I can't answer that one. You will have to ask Karan about that.

You and Kajol are cousins, but don't seem to get along well...

We are professionals first.

What are your forthcoming films?

Kirti Kumar's Pyar Diwana Hota Hai and Vijay Mehta's Chalo Ishq Ladayen with Govinda. I don't know why these films are taking so long to be released.
