The Congress on Friday said it would seek clarification on the marital status of Dharmendra, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Bikaner.

The popular actor has reportedly not mentioned his wife's name in the affidavit filed on Thursday.

State Congress Election Committee chairman Nawal Kishore Sharma told a press conference in Jaipur that not filing the 'correct' affidavit and 'avoiding' wife's name were 'gross violation' of the Election Commission's guidelines. The Congress would take up this issue with the EC.

"It is up to the returning officer to decide (on whether to reject his nomination). But our demand will be to disclose his wife's name in the affidavit."
