A look at the milestones that can be achieved during the Test series betwen India and Australia

Sachin Tendulkar needs 118 runs to complete his 9000 runs. (He will become fourth batsman in the world and also the quickest to do so). 

Rahul Dravid needs 73 runs to complete his 6000 runs 

VVS Laxman needs 34 runs to complete his 3000 runs 

Tendulkar needs 145 runs to become the leading run scorer for India against Australia 

Tendulkar needs 383 runs to aggregate 5000 runs in 'away' matches. (He will become fifth batsman in the world to do so) 

Sourav Ganguly needs 280 runs to complete his 2000 runs as India's captain 

Steve Waugh needs 340 runs to complete his 11,000 runs 

Waugh needs 515 runs to become the highest run scorer in Test cricket 

Waugh needs 475 runs to become the leading run scorer in 'home' matches 

Justin Langer needs 332 runs to complete his 5000 runs 

Steve Waugh needs 173 runs to complete his 1000 runs in the matches against India 

Steve Waugh needs two hundreds to equal Sunil Gavaskar's world record tally of 34 hundreds 

Sachin Tendulkar needs three hundreds to equal Sunil Gavaskar's world record tally of 34 hundreds 

Matthew Hayden needs 42 runs to complete his 1000 runs in the calendar year 2003 (He has scored 958 runs in just 9 matches this year) 

A Tendulkar century for losing cause will make him the prolific century maker for a losing side beating Brian Lara's 8.

By dismissing one batsman on duck, Glenn McGrath will become the bowler to inflict most duck-dismissals in Test cricket

Glenn McGrath needs 16 wickets to become the leading wicket-taker for Australia against India 

MacGill needs six wickets to complete his 50 wickets in the calendar year 2003

(He has taken 44 wickets in just 8 matches this year) 

Fielding & Wicket keeping: 

Matthew Hayden needs one catch to complete his 50 catches 

Adam Gilchrist needs 15 catches to complete his 200 catches 

Rahul Dravid needs 9 catches to complete his 100 catches 

Miscellaneous:

VVS Laxman's 50 Tests (He has played in 46 Test so far)

Adam Gilchrist's 50 Tests (He has played in 47 Tests so far)

Rahul Dravid has played 71 matches so far without a break

Dravid will extend his record of not recording a duck in last 62 innings (and 36 Tests)

A Test win for Ganguly will make him the most successful Indian captain along with Mohammad Azharuddin

A Man-of-the-Match award will be tenth for Tendulkar. He will become first Indian to do so
