Iraq pulled off a shock 1-0 win over South Korea on Tuesday to storm into the football final of the 15th Asian Games in Doha on Tuesday night. They will face hosts Qatar, who overcame a strong Irani side 2-0 later in the day, in the contest for the gold.

Samer Mujbel sent Iraqi fans into a frenzy by heading in a 24th minute winner.

A swift counter-attack caught the Korean defence upfield and when captain Younes Khalef's shot was blocked on the line Mujbel was on hand to head home.

It was the first goal conceded by Korea after four previous clean sheets.

The South Koreans poured everything into attack in the second half, but Iraq defended with grit and managed to hold out for the stunning win.

The victory sent hundreds of flag-waving Iraqi fans into raptures in the stands as they sat side-by-side with drum-beating Korean supporters at the Al-Gharrafa stadium.

Sebastian Quintana and Hussain Yaseer Abdulrahman scored for Qatar on the either-side of half-time to take the hosts into the final against a strong Iran outfit.
