India may go into the second one-day international against the West Indies in Cuttack on Wednesday with five bowlers and a double-spin attack, paving the way for Ramesh Powar's return at the expense of a medium pacer.

Suresh Raina, who turned out in the opening game of the series at Nagpur, has made way for pace bowling all-rounder Joginder Sharma in the 12 announced by skipper Rahul Dravid at a press conference on Tuesday.

It will likely be a toss-up between S Sreesanth and Sharma for a place in the final eleven in the day-night game at the Barabati stadium, where the track is expected to aid spinners.

"We have decided on the combination after looking at the condition and opted for the extra spinner," Dravid said.

The hosts' decision to go in with a four-pronged bowling attack in the opening match at Nagpur had raised a few questions after Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul took the frontline bowlers to the cleaners.

From the 15-member squad, apart from Raina, opener Robin Uthappa and pacer R P Singh will continue to sit out.

On the decision to leave out Raina, Dravid said, "We decided to give him a break as we want to play the extra spinner and extra bowler. It is more vital for us in these conditions."

However, the captain praised Raina, saying he is a batsman with a bright future.

"There will be opportunities for him as he grows up," he added.

Ever since the start of Greg Chappell's reign as the cricket coach, the Indian playing eleven has been kept a closely guarded secret right till the toss. But not any more.

tarting with the South African tour, the team management has been giving a fair idea to the media about the team composition a day before the match.

Dravid, however, denies that there was any gameplan or strategy to keep this crucial piece of news away from the media.

"There was no such gameplan," he said.

However, he said that at times the team management wanted to keep the opponent in the dark to add to the surprise element.

"Sometimes we don't want the opposition to get to know our playing eleven. We think it will benefit the team. We do this when there are some new players about whom the opposition has no clue. So, for strategic reasons, we don't spell out the exact team in advance," he added.

But why the change in strategy of late?

"Now we are comfortable, so we are giving the team out. In fact, though we were losing in South Africa, before every match I was giving the team. People chose to ignore it as we were losing then."

Meanwhile, the West Indies' hopes of stopping India from taking an unassailable lead in the four-match
series took a knock after captain Brian Lara and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo were rendered doubtful for the match.

"I am uncertain. I will practice today and decide tomorrow," Lara said.

The Trinidadian, who has a left-knee injury, had a short stint in the nets before opting for rest.

Bravo is also on the injured list after he collided with the umpire during the opening one-dayer at Nagpur which India won by 14 runs to open up a 1-0 lead in the series.

"Bravo is also uncertain. And in case I cannot play, Chris Gayle will be the stand-in skipper," added Lara.

The West Indies skipper, however, denied that his team is low on morale after the defeat in the first ODI at Nagpur.
