Three soldiers, six militants killed in Kashmir

Three soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, and six militants were among 10 people killed in the Kashmir valley since Sunday night.

Elsewhere in the valley, troops captured three militants while one surrendered with arms and ammunition during the period.

An official spokesperson said militants shot dead one Mohammad Ashraf Wani, a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen released by security forces, at Ruhmo in Pulwama early on Monday.

Security forces killed a militant at Thisian Baihak forest on Sunday evening, and one Mohammad Yousuf Kallo, a resident of Dalgate, was shot dead at Famed Boulevard, when he ignored orders by security forces to stop.

A defence ministry spokesperson said three militants, including a foreigner, and three soldiers, including a JCO, were killed in an exchange of fire in Pethsir village in Baramulla on Sunday evening.

Two AK-56 rifles, three pistols, and 1,000 rounds were recovered from the slain militants.

The spokesperson said troops killed a militant during a search operation in Kupwara on Sunday evening. Two rockets, one AK 56 rifle, 32 grenades, 27 detonators, and about 100 rounds were recovered, he said.
