All parties to work unitedly to preserve peace in Punjab

All major political parties in Punjab on Wednesday reiterated their commitment to preserve peace in the state at any cost.

A resolution, adopted at an all-party meeting presided over by state Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in Chandigarh, said all the parties will work unitedly to defeat conspiracies aimed at disturbing peace in Punjab.

The meeting was convened in the wake of the recent train blast in Bhatinda, two explosions in buses at Pathankot and a shootout at Baghapurana in Moga district.

Congratulating Punjabis for maintaining communal harmony, the resolution condemned acts of violence engineered in and outside Punjab by some mischievous and anti-national elements.

The meeting thanked Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral for displaying political courage and farsightedness in waiving off the Rs 85 billion special term loan given to Punjab.
