Paswan to inaugurate new railway division at Guntur

Union Railway Minister Ram Vilas Paswan will inaugurate a new railway division in Andhra Pradesh with Guntur as its headquarters on July 5.

At present, South Central Railway has six divisions -- Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Hubli and Nanded. Guntur division is being formed from portions of the Vijayawada and Secunderabad divisions.

The new division will give a fillip to development activities in Guntur, considered the prime business and educational centre in the state. It would also further promote tourism in this part of AP, particularly the world famous Buddhist spots at Nagarjuna Konda and Amaravathi.
