Ottavio Quattrochi figures in Bofors documents

The names of Italian businessman and Rajiv Gandhi associate Ottavio Quattrochi and his wife Maria, Bofors agent Win Chadha, his late wife Kanta and son Harsh Chadha appear in the 500-odd page secret Swiss bank documents.

A spokesman for the Central Bureau of Investigation said the documents made it clear that they have been mentioned as recipients of the kickbacks in the Rs 14 billion howitzer gun deal.

''The CBI is taking necessary steps to take action against these persons,'' the spokesperson said.
