Mysore Maharaja's victory march

Thousands of people converged in Mysore, the traditional capital of Karnataka, to witness the grand Dasara celebrations on Thursday. The 10-day-old festivities at Mysore, the imperial city of palaces, came to an end amidst a festive mood.

Balarama, the elephant, led the colourful Dasara procession that began from the historic Mysore palace. The victory march was heralded by the scion of the erstwhile Mysore Maharajas, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar who invoked the family deity.

The procession, which is also known as the 'Jumbo Savari', was cheered on by a huge crowd. Click here to read further...
